The engineering sector currently needs around 60,000 young people to become engineers and technicians every year.  Attracting more women into engineering careers would add £2bn to the UK economy but we still have a long way to go – as both educators and employers – to show women that they can be great engineers and are desperately needed to solve today’s big societal challenges such as climate change. The sector needs more “girly swots” and it is incumbent on all of us to make this happen.
