Health & Safety Executive (HSE) releases latest Covid-19 reporting guidelines
Regulator states three cases that should be reported under RIDDOR.
HSE, a UK independent regulator for health, safety, and illness at work, has released its latest guidance on the reporting of Covid-19 cases.
Employees must only make a report under RIDDOR (The Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013), it says, in three separate cases.
If there is ‘an unintended incident at work that has led to someone’s possible or actual exposure to coronavirus’, it must be reported as a dangerous occurrence.
An incident must be recorded as a case of disease if ‘a worker has been diagnosed as having Covid-19 and there is reasonable evidence that it was caused by exposure at work’.
Also, if ‘a worker dies as a result of occupational exposure to coronavirus’, a report of that fatality must be sent within ten days of the incident.
