The IRTE Northern Centre hosted its much-anticipated annual dinner dance on Saturday, 23 November, at the prestigious Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Accrington.
A longstanding highlight of the calendar, the event once again united local and national industry partners, SOE members, and senior representatives for an evening of celebration, camaraderie, and entertainment.
Guests were welcomed at the hotel entrance by an impressive display of modern commercial vehicles, setting the tone for the evening. The honourable secretary, Neil Mitchell, reprised his role as the evening’s host, supported by Tom Reed, who provided engaging visual displays that enhanced the smooth running of the night.
A Night of Entertainment
The evening began with a drinks reception, followed by a four-course meal. Guests were treated to performances from two table magicians before participating in a raffle and auction. The lively schedule also included activity games, music, and dancing, ensuring there was something for everyone.
Honourable Chairman Danny Fisher opened the event with a sincere address. He expressed gratitude to the attendees and table sponsors, whose ongoing support helped make the event possible. Danny also welcomed IRTE Professional Sector Chairman Nick Elliott to the stage, presenting him with a commemorative Northern Centre shield to mark his inaugural visit.
Recognising Dedication and Achievement
A special moment of the evening was the tribute to Ian Macdonald, a long-serving member who recently received an Honorary Fellowship from the SOE . The Northern Centre committee celebrated Ian’s dedication with a certificate of appreciation and a Northern Centre shield, honouring his years of service on councils and boards.
Chris Grime, continued the recognitions with floral presentations to Honourable Chairman Danny Fisher’s wife, Faye, and Honourable Secretary Neil Mitchell’s wife, Roisin, acknowledging their unwavering support.
Fundraising, and Festivities
The event also supported a worthy cause, with representatives from the Northwest Air Ambulance Trust conducting a raffle and auction. Guests responded generously, contributing to the vital work of this life-saving organisation.
The Northern Centre committee expressed their delight at the event’s success and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees. As table sponsors eagerly inquired about reservations for the 2025 function, it was clear that the dinner dance remains a cherished tradition. The IRTE Northern Centre’s annual dinner dance continues to exemplify the spirit of community, celebration, and shared achievement, promising even greater highlights in the years ahead.
