With a plethora of industry experts ready to mentor, SOE’s new platform connects engineering professionals across various disciplines to share knowledge and inspire growth.
Key features of the SOE mentoring platform include:
-
A Diverse Network of Experts: Mentors from fields including road transport, plant operations, and more.

-
Personalised Matching: Connecting mentors and mentees based on skills, interests, and career goals.
The Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) is proud to announce the launch of its new mentoring platform, designed to empower the next generation of engineering professionals. This cutting-edge platform connects SOE members with experienced mentors from diverse engineering fields, from road transport and plant operations to engineering surveyors and environmental, providing a unique opportunity for knowledge-sharing and career development.
Ahead of its launch, over 90 engineering experts registered their interest in becoming mentors, showcasing the industry’s dedication to supporting emerging talent. The platform, built on PLD Mentoring Software, leverages advanced matching technology to pair mentees with mentors based on specific skills and expertise, ensuring a tailored and impactful mentoring experience.
PLD is a trusted mentoring platform used by many membership bodies, and will offer members a seamless experience as they navigate the platform creating profiles, searching for mentors that align with their areas of expertise and connecting with the mentors.
“We’re thrilled to offer this platform as an additional benefit to our members,” said Robin Bates Membership and Professional Standards Lead. “Mentorship is a cornerstone of professional growth, and by bringing together experts from all corners of engineering, we’re fostering a community that drives innovation and excellence.”
The mentoring platform adds to SOE’s growing list of member benefits, reinforcing its commitment to delivering value and fostering professional development. This initiative is particularly valuable for students, apprentices, and early-career engineers seeking guidance and support as they navigate the industry. Mentoring also gives seasoned engineers a chance to share their knowledge with the future generation of engineering mavericks.
With 30 registered mentors, 18 of which have already fully completed their profiles, and consumed 40 training videos between them, SOE invites engineering professionals, from seasoned experts to young engineers, to join the platform and explore how, together, we can share knowledge and support career growth.
